VINTAGE, CLASSIC AND QUIRKY!

More than 1000 vintage and classic vehicles and their proud owners will be making their way to the annual Historic Motoring Extravaganza at Thirlestane Castle on Sunday the 4th June.
Described by the Sunday Times as ‘The best classic car festival in Scotland’ from their list of Top 11 Car Festivals in the UK, this popular event is one of the largest car rallies in the whole country.
Now in its 45th year, this year’s event will be celebrating history of the Great British Sports Car and as well as having beautiful examples of Jaguar, MG, Aston Martin, Morgan and Triumph on display, the Borders Vintage Automobile Club have just announced that they will also have a veteran 102 year old Prince Henry Sports Torpedo on show, this model of car is regarded by many as the world’s original sports car.
But whatever you are interested in, there’s something for everyone to admire with much loved veteran to 1990’s cars, motorcycles and commercial, steam, military and agricultural classes of vehicle on display. All set against the backdrop of magnificent Thirlestane Castle, one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland.
As well as getting up close with some of the finest vintage and classic vehicles in the whole country, you also have the opportunity to be driven in one too! Sporting Bears Dream Rides will be at the event and you have the chance to enjoy a ride in the car of your dreams, simply for a donation to charity. The car’s owner will take you on a fun 10 mile trip through the Borders countryside and all in aid of a great cause. A wonderful treat for friends and family or even a superb early Father’s Day gift and absolutely 100% of your donation goes direct to children’s charity REACT.
But you don’t have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy the show, this is a fabulous fun packed day out for the whole family and the Motoring Extravaganza is complemented by a range of superb attractions and entertainment including Craft and Gift Fair, Trade Stands, Quality Catering, Steel Band, Dance troupe, Gun Dog Display and Amusements for the kids. Even better, for kids under 16, entry is free.
